I took Cooper to get his very first shots today, and I was a little bit nervous. The ladies at the vet's office couldn't believe how big he is for only being seven weeks. He weighs 10 lbs 10 oz. He's going to be a very big boy!
They gave him his first round of distemper and parvo. He did great. He didn't whine or even wiggle around. Such a good boy! She said his heart sounds good and he looks healthy! I will be taking him back in 3 weeks to get his next round of shots.
He's such a good boy. Ornery, but good!
We love him to pieces!

Cooper's first week as a Jones
On Wednesday November 4, I was looking around on the KMA e-shop site and found a litter of Australian Shepards for sale. Aussie's being my second favorite breed, I was very interested. I told Chris about them and we decided to talk seriously about getting a puppy. See, at this point we still had Missy, but since we knew we'd probably be giving her up, we wanted a puppy. We decided to call the number and see if any pups were left. Sure enough there were two males. So she sent me pics of the puppies left and we picked the one we wanted.
The following Saturday, we drove to Corning to pick up our baby. On the three hour drive home, we went back and forth on names. At first I wanted Petey, Chris wanted Hamlet (Hammy for short). But once we saw him, we knew neither of those fit him. So we spent most of the car ride blurting out names trying to pick the right one. Finally we said Cooper! We knew he was a Cooper.
So now it is Thursday and Cooper is feeling right at home. He LOVES to play as he is still only seven weeks old. And he is definitely a chewer. Right now we are working very hard on potty training. He does a pretty good job. Every now and then he will cry at the door for us to take him out, but otherwise we just have to catch him at the right time. He gets treats when he does his business outside and man does he love treats!
We are also working on "sit". He is doing pretty well with this command for only being 7 weeks. I think he's going to be a very smart, very well-behaved dog. I am so excited to continue to watch him grow and learn. Although I'd love for him to stay itty bitty forever, too!

Why am I blogging about my dog?
When Allie was a baby, I kept a notebook where I wrote down EVERYTHING she did. Every new thing she learned, etc. Now that she's been gone for almost SIX years, I still look at the notebook every now and then to remember her.
See, my dogs mean more to me than animals probably should to people. And when they are gone I never want to forget them. So since Allie's notebook worked so well, I thought I want to do something very similar for Cooper. Only this day and age its blogs, so here's Cooper's blog!
